Fly into Himalayas with Druk Air, Bhutan's National Air Carrier. The green walls of the hills known as dooars or gateways into Bhutan from the plains climbs continually higher as the plane flies north towards the Tibetan border. After breakfast drive to Punakha with a short stop at Dochula pass (3,050m) that heralds the most enchanting views of Bhutan. Visit the remarkable Punakha was once the old capital of Bhutan where the historic events, coronation of the first king and the first national assembly session were accounted to have held here. Still today, the place is a winter resident of central monastic body and the chief Abbot. The glorious Punakha fort is built at the confluence of male and female rivers holding defensive significance of the past. The flamboyant architectural design of the giant fortress richly showcases the typical 13 traditional arts and architectures of Bhutan. As a day visitor, only the courtyard and the main shrine inside the fort are opened for visitation.

The highlight of the day will be your excursion to the tiger nest. It would be a combination of three hours spiritual hike with glimpses of Buddhism introduction history of Bhutan. Guru Rinpiochhe, the legendary master from India, who introduced Buddhism in Bhutan, spent three months meditating in the cave where the present stature of tiger nest temple is incredibly situated. Besides, the hike also offers breathtaking views of the lower valleys and encircling lush greeneries.
